Bharti Airtel rings loud on engaging in talks with Etisalat for selling its operations in Sri Lanka

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 317.55, up by 3.55 points or 1.13 % from its previous closing of Rs. 314.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 313.45 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 318.40 and Rs. 313.45 respectively. So far 31522 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 373.50 on 01-Nov-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 266.95 on 05-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 341.70 and Rs. 312.25 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 125518.36 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.76% and 10.01% respectively.

Bharti Airtel is in discussions with UAE-based telecom company Etisalat to sell its operations in Sri Lanka. The two companies are in negotiations for over five months now and have agreed on the broad contours of the deal.

Bharti Airtel had announced the launch of its Sri Lanka operations in 2009 but the company has not been able to make inroads in terms of market share, with just under two million users. Airtel has invested over $300 million to roll out services in Sri Lanka but continues to make losses.
