Cox & Kings' arm signs up for a new 802 bed hotel in Amsterdam

Cox & Kings’ unit - Meininger, a subsidiary of Holidaybreak, the European education and Leisure specialist activity travel group, has signed a long term lease agreement for the Amsteltower hotel. The hotel, which is to be located near the Amstel Station in Amsterdam, will have 165 rooms and 802 beds. Holidaybreak is a subsidiary of Prometheon Holdings (UK), which is a part of Cox & Kings.

This is going to be the second Meininger hotel in Amsterdam since Meininger opened its first hotel in Amsterdam, City-West in 2012. Meininger is a unique hybrid hotel product. The hotel next to Amstel Station will be an important step for Meininger expansion in Europe. Meininger’s aim is to run an urban traveller’s home in ever European capital city.

Founded in 1999, Meininger is currently operating 16 hotels in 10 European cities. The unique hybrid concept of Meininger is based upon combining the service and comfort of a hotel with the uncomplicated nature of a hostel; top locations, high quality amenities, flexible room structure and reasonable prices.
