Canara Bank unveils facility to check status of Aadhaar linkage: Report

Canara Bank, a leading nationalized bank, has reportedly launched a facility, which allows the customers to do a self-check on whether their Aadhaar numbers have been linked to their account. Customer is required to enter the account number and customer ID in bank’s system and systems will automatically response whether the aadhar number is linked or not.

The bank has also offered a facility for submitting Aadhaar seeding, or mapping, request in the bank’s Web site.  In order to link the account with aadhar number customer has to simply send the Aadhaar number along with the account number through SMS or call customer helpline. All the requests are centrally processed and on successful seeding of the Aadhaar number, an SMS is sent to the customer.

Canara Bank is India’s fifth largest Public Sector bank (PSB) in terms of assets. As on September 30, 2013, it had assets of around Rs 4,50,200 crore and advances of around Rs 281100 crore. The bank’s strong market position is underpinned by its market share of around 5.0 percent in deposits and 4.8 percent in advances as on September 30, 2013.
