Shipping Corporation of India soars on turning black in Q2 net profit

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is currently trading at Rs. 63.15, up by 1.30 points or 2.10% from its previous closing of Rs. 61.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 63.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 64.80 and Rs. 62.70 respectively. So far 193773 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 73.25 on 11-Jun-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 34.20 on 18-Nov-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 65.25 and Rs. 60.30 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2990.43 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.75% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.38% and 15.87% respectively.

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has reported a net profit of Rs 18.59 crore for the quarter under review as compared to a net loss of Rs 123.53 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company has increased by 9.91% at Rs 1194.04 crore for Q2FY15 as compared Rs 1086.35 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

SCI is the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
