Key highlights:

  • Data volumes increased by 4% sequentially and network infrastructure expansion continued at a healthy pace.
  • Africa business reported 6% sequential increase in revenues and 3% increase in EBITDA, with margins moderating by 1.1% to 48.8% from record levels of 49.9% in the last quarter.
  • Enterprise business delivered a 15% year on year increase in revenues and 3% increase in EBITDA however, margins declined by 0.4% to 39%.

Management Outlook

  • The management indicated the pan India 5G rollout planning has been concluded and confident of being able to roll out services across India by Mar’24.
  • Likely to accelerate some capex spends in the current year to enable its 5G launch. Non-standalone 5G strategy will enable a 35% lower cost/GB in comparison to the standalone rollout using the 700MHz band.
  • Confident of being able to leverage its dominant position in the enterprise segment to drive further growth of its digital/enterprise solutions and extend the lead versus competition.
  • Does not envision any material spends for spectrum over the coming years. FY24 is likely to only see some minor renewals, which will not have any significant implication on cash flows.
  • Reiterated the need for industry-wide tariff hikes and indicated it is in a comfortable position to unilaterally raise tariffs to achieve its target of an ARPU of Rs.200 in FY23.
